It just amazing that the school systems don't cover some of these basic life skills. If the schools think it's all right to teach sex education, why not teach skills such as balancing a checkbook? I know sex education is more interesting ( ) but financial skills are extremely important in life.

My mom. She was the financial wizard of our household while growing up. She took me to get my first bank account. That woman was extremely organized and really knew how to organize.

I learnt it from my parents. This has been - and still is - completely ignored in the UK education system. They teach a lot of sex ed, and now citizenship education, but never basic finance skills. It seems a bit backwards, but there hasn't been any big movement to adress the problem.

Five years ago, I became aware that the great majority focuses solely on earning money. So much effort and time are poured into this activity. I think most people believe that earning money is one's primary goal. They have not realize that they should also know how to manage their earnings. I've learned it from people I worked with. I'm doing my best to stay committed to my plan and monitor my financial progress.

I learned it on my own, was surprised that my son was taught the basics, like how to write a check and fill in a ledger, while in school. They had to plan a vacation and budget money for it. Nice thing for kids

I have always been very careful with money, and I think that was greatly influenced by my parents.

Both my mum and dad were very hard workers and opened me my first savings account when I was six years old.

When you look at the amounts of debt people get into I wish there were some sort of practical lessons at school to show people how to take care of their finances.

I BELIEVE I HAD ENOUGH FINANCIAL EDUCATION BUT IT IS NOT AN ASSURANCE THAT I CAN HAVE FINANCIAL FREEDOM. LIKE AT PRESENT I AM HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING A SOLUTION TO MY DEBT PROBLEM.

I learned most of them through Google. It was only last year when I started making money online so I had to find good banks, best deals, etc.

Also, some of it came from this forum itself
