Where did you learn about stuff like how to balance your check book, selecting a good bank, etc? Did you learn this from your parents, friends or school?

Like most USEFUL things in everyday life, kids don't get taught that stuff at school. It's just something you learn by yourself which is why so many people end up in debt. Basic domestic economics is oddly ignored by the school system.

I left home at 16 and learned because I had to I guess - I don't remember learning those thigns at school or from mmy parents.

I've hired school leavers in the past and it's amazing how many don#t know the first thing about paying invoices, writing cheques, checking bank balances etc.

God I sound old.....

I learned it from my dad and uncle. Whenever they do their financial stuffs I would stick with them and eventually learn all those stuffs. Further it is really helpful when you learn from your family members rather than experiencing on our own through unpleasant experiences.

Mostly from experience and lessons from other people's ideas. The best teacher is our experiences actually but I'm not saying that we have to experience being broke in order to learn. Try to observe other people and how they manage their finances successfully.

From my parents. They always remind me how difficult it is to earn money and how easy for it to spend. It should be a balance to avoid being broke. Self discipline and hard work to make it work.

Initially from my parents and was being developed further with life's challenges. I think handling financial matter is part of our system. We just need to hear it from other people who are expert with handling it.

From my mentor that was a family friend. He is a businessman and I truly admired his way of making money. He shares to me the ups and downs of his business and that someday I will be able to apply those lessons on my own life.

I think I learned it from my grandparents. They are so strict with financial matters and I thought at first it was getting over the line. I just realized now that they were right and if were not for them, I'm sure I'll have a hard time coping with my finances now.
